SleepHQ vs DreamMapper
DreamMapper is Philips Respironics’ free app for its DreamStation machines, and it gives you a short summary of each night: hours used, mask fit and AHI. SleepHQ reads the same DreamStation and DreamStation 2 nights breath by breath, with event flags, reads other brands of machine too, and works in any browser and in native iPhone and Android apps. If a quick morning check is all you want, DreamMapper does that; if you want to see what happened during the night, choose SleepHQ.

Is DreamMapper or SleepHQ better?
It depends on how much you want to know. DreamMapper tells you whether last night went well. SleepHQ shows you why.
DreamMapper is Philips’ own app, it is free, and it pairs with your DreamStation over Bluetooth, so each morning you can see how long you used your machine, how well your mask sealed and your AHI. It also lets you set goals, reminds you when to clean or replace your equipment, and has videos on getting used to therapy.
SleepHQ reads the detailed record your DreamStation writes to its SD card. You see usage hours, AHI, pressure, leak rate and respiratory rate for every night, with the detailed charts underneath and event flags on them, so you can see when in the night things happened and not just how many. That detail is what you need when the summary leaves you with a question.
What does DreamMapper show you?
A nightly summary. Philips describes DreamMapper as feedback on your therapy usage, mask fit and apnea hypopnea index (AHI), alongside goals, achievements, equipment reminders and educational videos and guides. You can also download a report to take to your care team.
Philips’ pages do not describe breath-by-breath charts, pressure or leak graphs, or a way to read nights from another brand of machine. DreamMapper only works with Philips Respironics machines: Philips says it is compatible with all Dream Family devices.
Does SleepHQ work with my DreamStation?
Yes. SleepHQ reads every Philips Respironics DreamStation and DreamStation 2, including the DreamStation Go, and the supported devices page lists each model.
It reads ResMed, Fisher & Paykel, Löwenstein and BMC machines as well, so if you move to another brand later, SleepHQ still reads your nights. A Pro membership keeps several machines in one account.
How do my DreamStation nights get into SleepHQ?
From the SD card. Copy the files off your DreamStation’s card and upload them from any browser, on a computer or on a phone with a card reader.
Or let a Magic Uploader Xtreme do it. It works with DreamStation and DreamStation 2 machines: it goes in the SD card slot, holds your SD card, and sends each night to SleepHQ over your home wifi. It works with any SleepHQ account, free or Pro, and is bought separately.
Can SleepHQ show my oxygen levels with my DreamStation data?
Yes. Pair a SleepHQ O2 Ring Pro with a Magic Uploader Xtreme and your overnight oxygen and pulse readings land on the same dashboard as your DreamStation data, lined up night by night.
What is Care Orchestrator, and do I need it?
No, you do not. Care Orchestrator is Philips’ software for sleep clinics and equipment providers, used to monitor and manage their patients. It is not an app you sign up for. Your provider can also receive your nights from DreamMapper, if you link your account to theirs and consent in the app.
SleepHQ has its own version of that link. If your doctor or sleep specialist has a SleepHQ clinical account, they can give you a link to connect your account to theirs. If they do not, you can create a share link and email it to them, and they can open your full high resolution data with one click.
Is SleepHQ free like DreamMapper?
SleepHQ has a free Basic plan, and it reads the same files a paid one does. It covers one CPAP or O2 device and your most recent 30 days of data, with breath-by-breath analysis and share links.
A Pro membership adds unlimited data, unlimited devices and account members, a sleep journal with advanced trends, Apple and Google Health sync, the SleepHQ Academy and the SleepHQ Community, and starts with a 14 day free trial. See the plans and prices.
Questions about SleepHQ and DreamMapper
Can I use DreamMapper and SleepHQ at the same time?
Yes. DreamMapper takes its nightly summary over Bluetooth or the modem, and SleepHQ reads the data your DreamStation records to its SD card, so using one does not stop you using the other.
Does SleepHQ sync from a DreamStation over Bluetooth like DreamMapper does?
No. SleepHQ reads your DreamStation’s SD card. You can upload the card from any browser, or put a Magic Uploader Xtreme in the card slot and it sends each night to SleepHQ over your home wifi.
This is one place DreamMapper is simpler: it syncs over Bluetooth with nothing extra to buy, which suits people who only want the summary.
Is DreamMapper available in Australia and the UK?
Yes. Philips says DreamMapper is available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries, and its App Store listing names the United Kingdom and Ireland among many others.
Philips also says the app is only for countries where the Philips machines it supports are approved.
